Blog #1: Welcome to Blogging With Bri™ !!!

✯  Hi, my name is Bri! Welcome to my blog! ❤ I am 19 years old (20 in March, wow I feel old), and I am a second-year student studying Social Sciences Education while minoring in Child Development at FSU. I am a huge fine arts kid at heart, and I've done choir and theatre for seven years. I am involved with Women's Glee Club, an open-access all-women choir, and this semester, we're working and debuting on a major, new cantata called the Suffrage Cantata by Andrea Ramsy (it is dedicated and written for the Women's Suffrage Movement!). I also work at Starbucks outside of campus, and I love making coffee drinks and connecting with customers and my fellow partners. Some fun facts about me:

  • Favorite Music Bands/Artists: Lady Gaga, Sam Smith, Waterparks, and Walk the Moon
  • Favorite TV Show: RuPaul's Drag Race (currently watching Season 13), Friends, and The Good Doctor
  • Favorite Starbucks Drink(s): Iced Caramel Macchiatos with Almondmilk, Cold Brew with Soy and Sugar-Free Cinnamon Dolce, and Iced Guava Black Tea with Lemonade and half the sweetener :)

✯ When it comes to technology, I like to say I'm ✨tech savvy✨ but I'm average at it.
    • In high school, I had a Microsoft laptop but I barely used it. When I graduated and went to college, I switched to the Mac laptop gang and I am still learning how to use it proficiently
    • Since the pandemic, I have been really good at using Zoom for calls with my friends, and I used Zoom features for presentations and debates in one of my classes last semester.
    • I know the standards in Microsoft Word, but I would like to be awesome at Excel and PowerPoint.

✯ Some online Personal Learning Networks (PLNs) that I use primarily are YouTube videos. I am a visual learner, so watching videos helps me understand and apply skills and knowledge. Another online PLN I use is my access to my colleagues. I only have met two Social Sciences Education majors in my college career, but I know that if I ask them for help or questions, they will be able to guide me in what I need to do to improve my teaching skills.

✯ Offline PLNs include using textbooks because again, visual learner! But it is the physical copy that allows me to process information easier than on a computer.

  1. Hey Bri! Your blog is so cute! I love the pink. I'm pretty good and Excel and PowerPoint, some may consider me to be ✨tech savvy✨ when it comes to them. I've learned how to use it through google but I can definitely teach you some things if you'd like!

  2. Hi, Bri! First and foremost, I want to say that I LOVE your blog aesthetic. Pink is my all-time favorite color, actually.

Just like yourself, I am a big fan of Sam Smith. His first album will always has such a special place in my heart; I love music artists who can demonstrate that level of vulnerability. So unbelievably beautiful.

And, wow! You like RuPaul's Drag race, too? That show is arguably one of Netflix's best - it is funny but so awe-inspiring as well.

    Nice to meet you!

    1. Thank you!
Yes I love Sam Smith!!! I've been a fan of them since their first album, but I really like their second and newest album the most :):)

I just recently got into Drag Race, so I still am an amateur watcher. The newest season is so good and all the queens are so talented and it inspires me to do makeup and look good!!! :):)

    1. Thank you Katie :)! I definitely need to go over the first movement for our first in-person rehersal, I am so excited! What voice part are you? I am in the A1 section.

Yes, I love Friends! Probably one of my favorite tvs, and one of the few shows that I watch reruns off.

  4. Hey Bri! I saw that you commented on my intro video, but I forgot to respond. (Sorry!!) It's super weird that there seem to be so few Social Science Education majors, but to be fair I didn't know this major existed until I applied to FSU.

Alsooo, I've watched Friends since I was a kid! Seriously love that show and have so much nostalgia for it!!! Do you have a favorite character? I always lean towards Chandler or Mike.

    1. You're totally fine! That usually is the case, as I also did not know it was a major, since I originally applied as a Music Ed major, then I switched to exploratory before changing it to my current major! I am a huge history nerd and I'd love to teach it.

Friends is such a great show! My favorite character is Chandler since I like to think I am a witty person, but I also love Monica. If you like Friends, I totally recommend watching How I Met Your Mother. Similar to the sitcom-style show like Friends, but it's super funny and I love all the characters, especially Neil Patrick Harris. I know for sure that it is on Hulu! :)
